Keynote speaker: Dermot McGuinne
Dermot McGuinne, the world’s leading expert on the Irish Character in print, is to be a keynote speaker at The Word, ATypI's 2010 conference in Dublin. Dermot’s keynote address will examine the historical and cultural association of the Irish character and its curious relationship to the roman, its sister form.

Dermot McGuinne gained his primary degree and early experience as a graphic designer in the United States where he later held the position of Art Director of the University of Iowa Press before returning to Ireland. He was awarded his doctorate from Trinity College Dublin for work completed on the subject of the “Irish Character in Print” and is author of Irish Type Design and various articles on this topic. He has recently retired from the Dublin Institute of Technology where he held the position of Head of Departments of Visual Communication Design and Fine Art.Back to news
