Posters from the 1989 “Velvet” Revolution

Session 24 | Room MIDE
Wednesday 28 October | 16:20 – 16:40

Duration: 20 minutes

In 2009, we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fall of the communist regimes in the Europe. On 17th November 1989, a peaceful student demonstration in Prague, started “Velvet Revolution” in Czechoslovakia. During the revolutionary days, the poster either printed or hand written became one of the most important information channels as the media was controlled by the government. I would like to present my private collection of the posters from November and December 1989. I would like to give the audience the opportunity to see this unique collection of political posters.
