Elementar

A flexible bitmap system

Saturday 17 September | 10:45 – 11:30
Location: Room 2

Presentation | Theme: Letter | Duration: 45 minutes

While there are several flexible type families for print, there are no such families for digital screen usage. ‘Elementar’ was designed to fill this gap. This is a bitmap font system which offers a much wider typographic palette than other available bitmap fonts. It comprises multiple variations in height, character-width, stroke-widths, styles, glyphs, and alphabets. The core of the ‘Elementar’ system is a parametric method which makes it possible to explore a large number of typographic variations on the low resolution pixel grid. This principle opens new horizons for analysing, designing, selecting, and using fonts on screens
